first flight

ava has always wanted to fly in a plane.  eli is hooked on excavators, trains, cars and planes.  above all, he is fascinated by garage doors.  so when he got to push the button to open the gigantic hangar door to uncle john's airplane, all of his 3 year old dreams were coming true!

i asked uncle john if he would take us up for a "spin" over our labor day visit.  it seemed crazy to me that the kids had yet to be in a plane (see family back story below).  the weather was perfect and the kids were so excited!!

ready, set...

go...

lift off...

thumbs up!!

chatting with the uncle john...

back down on the ground!

ava's main observation was that houses look like legos.  eli was just happy!!

thank you, uncle john for the PERFECT first flight!!

ok, here is a little back story:

my grandfather, "bud," was a tail gunner in the navy.  luckily, wwii ended before he was called into active duty.  flying remained in his bones.

grandpa bud and kate (1978)...

mom and kate...

i remember flying with grandpa as a little girl and then with uncle john, who inherited the joy of flying.

i wonder if ava and eli will be pilots one day?!?!
