today was the first day of school for the kids.
ava AND eli.
eli's attendance was a particularly difficult decision to make. a two year old with a severe peanut allergy is tricky in and of itself, but eli puts EVERYTHING in his mouth too. the school is confident they can handle it though. then, he's my baby. letting go (a bit) of my youngest is a BIG deal.
last year while ava was away at school, eli was forlorn without his big sis - grumpy and grouchy until she came home. he also doesn't have a lot of friends his own age. this makes the decision easier.
so i dropped them off....
and had my first day a.l.o.n.e for 3 hours.
i kept myself busy, but missed them tremendously.
they both trotted to the car with big smiles on their faces when i went to pick them up!

oh your big boy!!!! they look adorable side by side with their backpacks! i can hardly believe it! i wish i would have known so i could have called you and given you some love during your first morning alone. :) i hope they both have a great first week!!
