our sweet girl is 5.

5?!

yes.  that is a whole hand of fingers.

how on earth does time slip by so amazingly fast?

i joke with her that she has to stop growing up.  and she comes back with, "but mom, God is making me grow.  i have to grow up!"  wise, but still a little painful.

in honor of her 5th birthday, here are some of my favorite things about ava:

1. ava has lots of "favorites."  song after song on the radio will be her "favorite" and she gets all excited about them.  a while ago i began telling her that "favorite" is a singular sort of thing, but stopped short.  who cares?!

2. ava has a really fun and complex imagination.
      a. she would like to fly to england so she can learn to speak french.
      b. one of her "wishes" on a school craft was to live in a cupcake house.
      c. perhaps she'll ride a rocket ship to heaven when she's a "goner."
      d. she sends "kisses" to work with preston that follow him around all day.

3. ava loves crafts and reading.  just like her momma!

4. ava wore high-water sweatpants (i will not be buying her bigger pants until next fall!!), a skirt and a long sleeve t-shirt with shoes on the wrong feet today to school.  she wore something similar a couple days ago.  neither outfit quite matched.  her free spirit shines bright!

5. ava's smile is mega-watt!  it transforms her face and the mood of those around her.

sweet girl, you are loved bigger than you could ever possibly imagine.
