on our way up the mountain, preston and i agreed that this trip would be a deal-breaker. you see, neither of us particularly enjoy slipping and sliding uncontrollably down mountainsides. it takes time to learn to ski and snowboard and you have to be willing to aim yourself downhill, and hope for the best while remembering what you have learned. we had each fallen hard enough times to have halos of flying question marks circling our heads. why are we doing this to ourselves? are we even having fun?
though preston is bruised and beaten, we have both surprisingly decided to continue. we improved a lot this trip! it is much more fun now that we have succeeded in developing more control over gravity's inevitable pull! i don't think we are purists though - we enjoy winter and mountains too much to narrow our trips to just skiing. i hear the rev of a snowmobile and the crunch of snowshoes in our future....!!!!
