sneaker

i'm in the kitchen working on a cake. i can see ava, but haven't heard eli for a couple minutes (multi-toned alarms ringing in my head). first i take the cake box in my hand out the garage door to throw it in our recycling with the plan to hunt him down.

i open the back door. throw the box into the recycling.

turn to walk back in the house and hear,

"get in the car?!"

ELI IS IN THE GARAGE.

he had put on ava's purple sneakers (on the wrong foot), opened the "child proof" front door, walked around to the garage and had been "hanging out" in the danger-riddled garage. even roofus was caught unaware. eli had shut the door behind himself.

positives - eli put shoes on before going out. he closed the door behind him. he didn't go down the driveway and onto the street (AHHH!)

so now we need a stronger, more child-proof lock. and perhaps a bell affixed to the child so i know to be alarmed when it's quiet.

Hey, even Connor doesn't shut the door behind him. Just yesterday I pulled out of the garage and noticed the door was wide opened. Connor, do you see anything wrong with this situation? Aunt Katie is so proud.
