in the canopy

preston and i are quickly learning that it's good for our marriage, family and sanity if we are able to sneak away just the two of us every once in a while.

so we go to our favorite place: the mountains...
we reached (by car) the peak of mt. mitchell. the cloud cover looked ominous as we drove the parkway, but it's good that we persevered because the peak was on top of the clouds!
our trip's "adventure" was a zip line tour. our belly butterflies were really flying when we got there, but our confidence grew quickly. we highly recommend it!!

stepping off the platform is the hardest part...
can you find me?
preston said, "i think that's the most fun i have ever had!"....three hours after he asked me, "why do i find myself being talked into stuff like this?"
rappelling...
coming into the platform...
traversing a l.o.n.g. and bouncy and see-through rope bridge (my least favorite part)...
we ate well, read a lot and were able to catch up with each other after months of mild chaos.

ava & eli were so excited to see us when we got home (and us them)...our ultimate reward!
(thanks to the hammocks for watching them!)
